Cookie Trees
INGREDIENTS
1 package sugar cookie mix 17.5 ounces
1 tablespoon all-purpose four plus more for dusting
1/3 cup butter at room temperature
1 large egg
1 container Wilton® white cookie icing 10 ounces
Toppings: edible glitter, melted semisweet chocolate chips, brown sanding sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a large bowl, combine cookie mix, four, butter, and egg, stirring until a soft dough forms. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to a ¼-inch thickness. Cut with tree-shaped cookie cutters in various sizes. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets, keeping similarly sized cookies together on a sheet.
Bake for 7 to 9 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned. Cool for 1 minute on pan. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely (about 30 minutes).
Select 4 cookies for decoration (set aside remaining cookies for another use). Warm cookie icing according to package directions. Outline edges of cookie with icing. Drizzle icing inside the outlined area. Gently spread icing with the back of a small spoon or spatula. Before icing sets, apply toppings, including glitter. For chocolate decorations, melt chocolate chips according to package directions. Spoon warm chocolate into a zip-top plastic bag (do not seal). Snip a hole in 1 corner of bag. Drizzle chocolate in a pattern across cookie, and sprinkle with sanding sugar.
