Chandelier Center
Transform an old chandelier into a stunning table decoration. Spray paint and floral foam set the stage for elegant taper candles and beautiful blossoms. You can change out the flowers and candles to suit any season or occasion.
1. Remove and discard any electrical wiring from the chandelier. Clean the fixture with warm, soapy water, and let dry.
2.Take the chandelier outdoors to a work surface. Spray it with two coats of primer. Apply one or two coats of spray paint, and let dry.
3.If using fresh flowers, fill a bucket or sink with water, and immerse the floral foam. Allow it to soak about 10 or 15 minutes.
4.If the bulb sockets are hidden by removable covers, take them off. Use the length of these covers to determine the thickness of your foam.
5.Remove the foam from the water. Use a small knife to cut the foam into pieces that are not as thick as the length of the covers in step 4. Trim each piece into a circular shape. Cut a circle in the middle of each piece to accommodate the cover or socket.
6.Attach the foam pieces to the chandelier as shown, and place a taper candle in each socket. Cut flowers (leaving several inches on the stems), and insert them into each foam piece until all the pieces are full. We used spray roses available at most grocery-store floral departments.
