8 ounces ground beef
1 packet (1.31-ounce) sloppy joes seasoning mix, McCormick®
1 can (6-ounce) tomato paste, Hunt’s®
1 large egg
1 tablespoon water
1 can (16.3-ounce) refrigerated biscuits, Pillsbury®
1⁄2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, Kraft®
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil; set aside.
In a medium saucepan, using a wooden spoon, stir together ground beef and sloppy joes seasoning mix. Place saucepan on burner; turn burner to medium-high. Cook and stir about 10 minutes or until meat is browned. Stir in tomato paste until well combined. Remove saucepan from heat.
In a small bowl, using a fork, beat together egg and water; set aside.
Lightly sprinkle flour on a flat surface and onto a rolling pin. Roll out each biscuit to make a 4-inch circle, turning the biscuit with each roll so it doesn’t stick. (If dough starts to stick, use more flour.)
For sandwiches, spoon 2 tablespoons meat mixture and 1 tablespoon cheese on one side of each biscuit circle. Using a pastry brush, brush a thin layer of the egg mixture around the edge of each dough circle. Fold dough over meat mixture to form a half-circle. Pinch edges together to seal.* Place on prepared baking sheet. Lightly brush the top of each sandwich with more of the egg mixture.
Place baking sheet in preheated oven. Bake for 13 to 15 minutes. Using oven mitts, remove baking sheet from oven. Using a heat-resistant spatula, transfer sandwiches to a wire rack. Cool slightly; serve warm.
*Tip: To make pleats in the crust like in the photo, have an adult use clean kitchen shears or scissors to cut small slits around the edges of the unbaked crust after sealing.
